Notes, steps, and such.

Babe’s got a new synth with friends
It’s these damn SCREENS! My eyes definitely aren’t what they used to be, so the whisper to go DAW-less crept in as a quick solution. Mind you, its a result of a lingering, larger issue I’ve had trouble admitting to in recent years, but enough on that.
My oh my, do I love a drum machine and will acquire another one in the near future. The Novation Circuit Tracks being the first groove box I added to the setup family. A great entry-level machine with drum and synth options, but still had some dependencies on the computer I wasn’t much of a fan of. It had a few hick-ups that went against my mission to go DAW-less, so I got another one.
The Model: Cycles has more variation when it comes to effects, swing, and arrangement options. A machine I still need to dig into more, but my only gripe is not being able to load my own sounds into it. I love stretching how far sounds can go, so having my own to add is a MUST. Keeping it due to the default pack having really great choices though, but I got lured back into DAWs again and have been curiously wanting to use it within one.

Did this silly thing switching DAWs the past month due to opinions and theories about my workflow. It turned out better than expected and now Ableton is my main. I’ve been looking forward to trying out their Note app soon on IOS too. Sampling on the voice recorder has been fun, but I’ve been craving the thought of tweaking things on the go.

Tingles the Brain
Babe likes blue obviously. The images gave me remnants of somewhere blue, sci-fi, and dystopian. The water of the ‘Love Your Mother’ poster on top of the crowd covering during a sandstorm reminder above it. Coupled photos on liminal space and curvature in the middle, and you just know Hype Williams has something referential in their music videos having to do with all six images somehow. I really wish I had the CD. We were so spoiled with physical media back then.

Don’t get me wrong, I love vinyl, but CDs are slowly growing on me again. My childhood consisted of stacks of them lining one wall of my mother’s living room. Music went on for hours during weekends on home theater speakers with southern cooking and visits from friends on Saturdays in the summer. I’m also needing a valid excuse to grab a decent CD player sometime soon.
